You are not the person staring back at you in the mirror.
You can only be a prisoner of your circumstances if you let yourself. I write this as someone living through some of the most difficult and heartbreaking times I've ever encountered and not someone trying to spew out nice little motivational phrases. Every day is a choice to either go on and embrace hope and positive results or give in to the wave of complacency and hopelessness that has been trying to drown me. The Foo Fighters (I just dated myself but I don't care!!!) have a line in one of their songs that says, "My head is giving me life or death, but I can't choose."
Except, I am choosing. Every. Single. Day.
I don't feel like I have a right to tell you to press on unless I am doing it, myself. These aren't just words to get you to buy a product or work out or to motivate you. I don't want to motivate you... I want to TRANSFORM you. Motivation involves getting you to change a few things about yourself that you don't like or that you want to change, but transformation means you evolve from one state to another. It means you become something new and better than what you previously were. That is why the mirror is sometimes a liar. It shows you a fixed moment In time and doesn't account for what you are becoming. I want you to look back at that reflection and know that it can't hold you hostage because you are controlling your destiny and becoming a different person every time you choose life.
Life doesn't have to dictate your reality to you. You don't have to be the biggest or strongest or most physically fit person in the world. You don't have to have a huge bank account or two houses and a boat. You don't have to be top dog at your company or the best at your profession to be successful. All you need to do is make a decision to move forward and choose life. That's what I do and I know if I am doing it, you can do it. You can transform and not just maintain.
But the first step is believing in who you are and accepting the love and support of those around you who are pulling for you and not just pulling you down. You are not alone and I want you to realize your journey, while unique, is not something that has never been done. I am here for you.
