Have you ever gone on vacation for a week, and you KNOW you gained weight, so when you get back home, you avoid the scale for awhile? And then you feel kinda bad about how you went crazy so...you might as well just really ENJOY yourself because you KNOW you are going to start on Monday? And then Monday comes and your pants are super tight and you dont need the scale to tell you that you gained 10lbs so you just dont do it and it becomes this downward spiral?!?
Well, I will never forget the first time Ilana (creator of the 2B mindset)) said, "stepping on the scale should be like brushing your teeth! We should be doing it daily!"
I was shocked. The scale is the enemy. I know you have seen it. I know most coaches post about it. I have been sharing the past 2+ years that our identity isnt in the scale. That it,s just a number. That it,s a liar. That NSV (non scale victories) are MOST important. That our weight fluctuates daily and it can be overwhelming and frustrating. That the scale is EVIL. 😳
And now..im just supposed to change my MINDSET and be ok with adding this to my daily habits? WHAT???
Well, 5 months later...im here to tell you i survived. AND I am even happy. And most importantly, its working. Using the scale is working. Because like all of the other "tools" i have in my arsenal...this is just another one.
The scale is not only helping me, but I see it for all that it is. A powerful tool!
Weighing myself each morning is a great way to see what is working for me and what isn't. BEFORE, its too late. Ilana has showed us how to use the scale to our advantage! How to use the scale in a healthy way, rather than defining myself by the number it showed. And honestly, it was the most freeing feeling of my life. When you use it the right way, your scale can become your biggest ally in managing your weight. Tracking body weight by itself has value. In study after study, people who monitor progress by tracking their weight almost always do better than those who don’t. And i have seen this for ME ~ first hand.
Every single morning now, I LOOK FORWARD to hopping on that scale and seeing what it says.
Because, guess what? It's still just a number! It doesn't define me. It doesnt tell me how strong i am getting. It doesnt tell me who i am as a person. It doesnt show my value or character. It doesnt break me down to just a number.
BUT....BUT...BUT... you know what it does tell me? It tells me that all that water i drank yesterday really did help me lose weight. It tells me when I've eaten too much salt at dinner. It tells me that i need a bit more fiber to help my body get rid of "some stuff" HA! It's kind of like that super honest friend that you really need in your life EVEN when its tough to hear. The one that is trying to help you... ya know what I mean?
So, please hear me..im not telling you to obsess over what it says. I am saying step on it and step off. Track what it says and take note. If the scale is up, look back at yesterday and re-evaluate. See what you might need to change. Its really about helping you see what is working FOR you.
I know I keep saying it, but this program has changed my life in so many ways. And to me, THIS ONE thing has been my game-changer. A HEALTHY relationship with the scale, with weight loss, and with my body.
